The Experience
After arriving in Fumba Village, your guide will help you prepare for the boat
journey and provide the necessary snorkeling equipment. You will then board a
traditional dhow and sail into the protected waters of Menai Bay.
The tour includes time for snorkeling, swimming and relaxing on a white-sand
bank. Because the sandbank is influenced by the tide, its size and the exact
order of the stops can vary from day to day.
Later, the dhow continues to Kwale Island, where a seafood BBQ lunch is served.
After lunch, there is time to discover the island, see the old baobab tree and,
when conditions allow, visit the peaceful mangrove lagoon.
Day Plan
Pickup times and the order of the sea stops may change depending on your
hotel location, tides and weather conditions.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel reception at the confirmed time.
Pickup is generally between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM, depending on your
accommodation location. You will then travel to Fumba Village.
On arrival in Fumba, you will meet the boat team, receive a short
introduction and board the traditional wooden dhow for the journey
into Menai Bay.
Stop in a suitable snorkeling area and explore the warm, clear water.
Masks and fins are provided, and life jackets are available for
additional comfort and safety.
Continue to a tidal sandbank where you can relax, swim and enjoy fresh
seasonal fruit such as pineapple, watermelon, banana, coconut or mango.
Fruit selection may vary by season.
Arrive on Kwale Island for a freshly prepared lunch. The menu normally
includes grilled seafood, local accompaniments, tropical fruit and
refreshing drinks.
After lunch, explore more of Kwale Island, visit its well-known old
baobab tree and discover the mangrove area when tide and local
conditions permit.
Sail back to Fumba Village and meet your driver for the return transfer.
Drop-off is normally at the same location where you were collected.

We are scheduled to arrive at Fumba Village at 8:45 am. Snorkeling masks and fins will be provided if needed. Once we are ready, we will board our boat and start our sea adventure.
Your first stop is at the Menai Bay Conservation Area, where you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel in the warm, turquoise waters and explore the vibrant coral reefs home to a diverse array of marine life. You’ll be amazed by the vibrant colors and patterns of the fish, sea turtles, and other creatures that call the reef home.
After snorkeling, it’s time to head to the sandbank, a pristine stretch of white sand that emerges from the crystal clear waters at low tide. Here, you can relax, soak up the sun, swim, or explore the tide pools teeming with life. Here we will delight you with the tastiest exotic fresh fruits, such as Banana, Watermelon, Pineapple, Coconut, and Mangoes!

After lunch, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the island and its surrounding mangrove forests. Amazing full day on the ocean. Snorkeling was beautiful and the sandbank looked like paradise. Seafood lunch was fresh and very tasty. For us this was the best tour in Zanzibar and 100% worth the money.
We did several excursions during our holiday, but Safari Blue was definitely the best one. The pickup was on time and the team took good care of us all day. We went snorkeling, relaxed on a beautiful white sandbank and ate fresh fruits near the water. Lunch on the island was excellent, with fish, prawns and calamari. After we also visited the mangroves and saw the big old baobab tree. It was a long day but never boring. If you have time for only one tour in Zanzibar, choose this one!
This tour was the highlight of our Zanzibar trip. The dhow boat experience was very nice and water was so clear. We saw many colorful fishes while snorkeling and had enough time to swim and relax on the sandbank. The seafood BBQ was much better than we expected and the crew was funny and helpful.
